Working on a new theme

edited June 2012 in Design

Okay...so I've finished one CSS book and have gotten quite far in creating a theme. I have a question I cannot seem to get. I am trying to do a split screen something like the BlueSitellite theme with a body and sidebar however, I want both items to sit in its own box. I have the body set and float:right; but for some reason the sidebar keeps wanting to hang out under the body. I think something is up with my divs in the html portion. Can someone please advise? Thanks.

  • Is it possible you can share the code? For that I think you can do something like this:

And for the CSS you can give the needed widths and you can use float:left for both the sidebar and main-content

Not sure how to paste the code without the site trying to process it.

  • Your best bet is to drop it into http://jsfiddle.net/ There you can put HTML in one box, CSS into another (and JavaScript in another if you want!), and see the rendered results. When you've illustrated what you're trying to solve, click 'Save' and it'll create a link that you can copy/paste anywhere for others to see, just like the link vullnetasani posted.

Okay...I did that but it looks like a bunch of garbage. It has all the tags from elefant in there so its not rendering properly.
